[ someone's struggling with their communicator. static takes up the connection more than not, and the brief flashes where it clears up shows blue and gold. finally the person on the other end seems to get it to settle, revealing a rather unimpressive looking blond man with a bit of a skin condition. he's set the device up across from him somewhere ( Read more... )

[HEY WAIT A SECOND that is a familiar name.]

That's kind of a weird name for someone to give their kid. Not to insult your parents or anything! Or you. I just mean.. who would name their kid after the devil?

[ SIGHS. ] Such an ugly title. Almost hurtful. It's actually a nice name, but humans are always so stuck on connotations.

I didn't mean it wasn't! I don't know much about it, actually. My dad only-[Wait, why 'humans'. CK stops fiddling with his PIPboy and gets a better look at the video feed.]

... Were you around a lot of radiation recently? I mean, you look like you're... [how to put this politely.]

Do you know what a ghoul is?

[ ... eyebrow raise. ghoul, really? he looks himself over for a brief second, frowning. ] I do [ in the general sense ] and no, I'm not one. This body's condition has nothing to do with radiation. It's not that bad off yet anyway...

[ but back to the topic! ] So you don't know the meaning of the name?

[So this is what her life has become. Demons, necromancers, things that look like demons, and now some ill looking man mentioning Pestilence and saying his name is Lucifer. It’s times like these that she wonders if Ghost Rider swapped lives with her and no one bothered to let her know.]

Emma Frost.

You wouldn’t happen to know Death, Famine, and War too would you?

[ well, at least someone around here knows something worth knowing. his smile is a little more pleasant. ] I do. I'd just finished raising Death, actually. For a being with such a fascinating role he looked rather grumpy about it.

And by raising, you mean what exactly?

[Because, no offense, but Lucifer looks nothing like the guy who normally raises the Horsemen in her world. And she really doubts he’s the biblical Lucifer.]

[ spreading his hands in a shrug: ] I mean just that. Raising. Summoning is another word for it, I suppose. Either way, same end result.

Your parents just loved you, clearly.

[ aaaaaand the smile disappears, but his tone remains even, if a little colder. ]

Cute. But I suppose the disbelief is to be expected.

I'm not sure you can take up the name of the biggest bogeyman to ever hit human folklore and honestly expect to be taken seriously. Still, I suppose there are worse.

No, I didn't expect it. After all, it's much easier to work if nobody believes you exist. [ and that charming little smile returns. ]
