I don't watch much TV at all--a little Saturday Night Live every once in awhile, and some CSI occasionally, but that's pretty much it.

But I am just appalled by CBS, who apparently thought it was a good idea to segregate contestants into teams by ethnicity on the upcoming season of Survivor. WTF CBS

Every time my brain tries to make some kind of sense of that, it just shuts down and I get a message of, "ERROR! ERROR! LOGIC NOT FOUND! A/R/I?"

Yeah...that strikes me as quite tasteless and a LOT nonsensical. How would any TV execs in their right minds...were they taken over by aliens or somesuch to think this is smart? Then again, the show's on it's 13th season or so, so maybe they thought a little controversy would make it interesting.

Wasn't there another show a few months back that made a white family black so they could "spark discussions about racism in America"?

It's not better TV, it's more controversial TV. Anything that gets people worked up about race will (at least temporarily) bring in more viewers.
