another thing about ebonics is that they have a tense that we don't have at all (i forgot what it's called, but i promise it exists).
also something i've learned in school about dialects is that we unfairly project poor views on certain dialects based on who speaks them-- but we can understand them just the same. they have all the same technicalities that we have, so what would make OUR dialect better than THEIR dialect?
hm, yeah sounds interesting, and i totally know what you mean about our vs. their dialect, that's really what my teacher's point was. i find it all so interesting, and saddening at the same time. i am trying to un-shelter myself!
