Life Issues

Two issues of note as the new Obama administration begins putting its message of change into action.

Yesterday, the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the new administration rescinded the Mexico City Policy. The Mexico City Policy required non-governmental organizations to "agree as a condition of their receipt of [U.S.] federal funds" that they will "neither perform nor actively promote abortion as a method of family planning in other nations". The policy had exceptions for abortions done in response to rape, incest, or life-threatening conditions. Originally instituted by Reagan, the policy was rescinded on Clinton's first day in office, and reinstated on Bush's first day in office and yesterday it was rescinded once more by the Obama administration.

Additionally, the $825 billion stimulus package which Obama is advocating includes many provisions which undercut parental authority, not to mention spending hundreds of millions of dollars on contraceptives.

I ask you to please prayerfully consider any comments before posting.

*EDIT* The Mexico City Policy was actually rescinded today, not yesterday. The article I read yesterday was premature in its reporting.
