Why I'm still vegan

There's a little over a week left till Thanksgiving, and I'm feeling the heat regarding my diet choices at home. So I'm writing this little piece on why I'm vegan mostly to remind me why I am and also to let others know in case they were wondering ( Read more... )

oh my god, i'm in love with you. i mean, you already knew that. but this is amazing and you're so articulate and lovely and smart and bighearted and i really enjoyed hearing you say these things, 'cause i feel like we usually either communicate them telepathically or think them individually slash concentrate more on making great vegan food than talking about why we're doing it. but yes, to all of it. you know what i'm gonna say though (DON'T GET SKINNIER!) but it's all true. here's my brief take on each point ( ... )

this, minus the I'm better than you part, might be the only intelligent argument I've ever heard for veganism. go you!

THIS. i still have some cheese from time to time but i love living off of mostly all veg stuff. hummus, falafel, couscous, bean, rice and avocado burritos, coming up with new options...it's great. at this point, if i don't eat enough veggies and fruits in a day, i start to feel like hell. i just love it.

i'm not sure, it kind of depends on what i'm feeling like, haha. usually i can get stuffing and mashed potatos no problem b/c my family doesn't put dairy or any kind of broth in them. they're not way into the traditional methods & ingredients of thanksgiving. but it's usually those 2, plus if there's salad or something, or some kind of toasted bread. really whatever is around that seems like it would fit into the thanksgiving theme, lol.
i'm assuming you've tried the near east or far east brand couscous? i can't recall the correct name right now, but it's the stuff in the boxes that cooks in 5 minutes? it's so handy!

I actually don't know what brand I've used because we used to get it in bulk in my house at Stanford - huge huge bins of it. so yeah... I don't know.
