SO my brother gt a copy of the Ghost In The Shell tv show Stand Alone Complex - and tho it seems like it's a decent show the subtitles are HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooorible!!! I do hope there's a version out there with english audio. Doubly glad that I didn't invest the money into it

Did your brother get a bootleg or something? Bandai tends to do a good job with the subtitles (arguably the best of the domestic companies) so I'm guessing that's the case. This is why saving a little scratch and buying stuff is a good idea. Bootlegs are all kinds of horrible on your sanity.

not bootleg, but it looks like an import. but again - my brother's purchase, not mine

"Import" generally means "bootleg." Unless you have a Japanese region DVD player and actually bought it in Japan.
