Global Warming?

Nov 09, 2011 07:30

Last night was the first night this warm season when it didn't get cold all night long... And it's not even summer yet. I know that people keep saying "there's no such thing as Global Climate Change"... but... Honestly?

I don't remember ever experiencing such a total summer feeling this early.

And here in Northern Sweden winter is late--we are only now getting temps cold enough to have a hint of ice in puddles in the morning, which is gone by 9am. One of my colleagues tells me that when he first arrived here a couple of years ago it was cold enough in October to freeze the lake solid enough for ice-skating, and since there hadn't yet been any snow the skating was glorious.

Today is the first cool day since then. It's not cool, not really, but like the cooler days in the height of summer, when the heat has just cooked itself out...

It's going to be an incredible summer.

Perhaps you won't get a real winter up there in Sweden one day?

I am starting to fear that "one day" is now--here is is the last day of November, and it was warm enough to rain today! There should have been snow on the ground for weeks now, but we have had only a dusting of snow, which didn't last due to subsequent thaws and rains.
