So the identity porn is finally complete (OMGYAY) and off to my lovely beta, and now I am back to Bucky murdering his way out of Russia. (Yes, I know you're bored of Bucky's adventures in Russia, and I care not a jot because I'm having fun with it!) Also, more than six sentences, still not caring.

What is identity porn? I've heard the term before, but I'm not sure what it is.

It generally refers to gratuitous playing around with a character's identity issues (where they have them).

Avengers fandom is particularly ripe for it, as several of the members have some kind of dichotony between themselves and their superhero personas (particularly Tony/Iron Man an Steve/Captain America). Natasha's past involves having her head messed with a great deal (depending on what version of canon you're playing in), such that her identity is very much a self-determined construct. Bucky is also a favourite, with the whole Winter Soldier thing.

So in this particular instance, The Winter Soldier doesn't know that he used to be Bucky, but Steve does, and that's a major part of the story. Also, in this case, actual porn. >_>
