The door to the shop burst open, startling Solomon from his half-doze at the counter. The first thing he saw was a pair of startling blue eyes and he almost expected them to be hidden behind a pair of thick glasses - except that they weren’t and the young child who had just burst in was pale of skin with bleach-blond hair. Probably a rich kid in search of some rare gaming card or similar.
“Ojisaa~an! Please, you gotta help me!”
…That was slightly unusual. Usually children looking for gaming cards weren’t quite that frantic.
“Please, I’m sorry, but I really need your help, please hide me, Ojisan, please!”
Solomon sat up sharply. That tone of voice… it tugged at some memory in his mind, achingly familiar. The desperate pleading for protection… either this boy was a better actor than his age gave him time to learn to be, or he really was in danger. Making a quick decision, Solomon lifted the counter, gesturing towards the door behind him
“Upstairs, quickly. My grandson will help hide you.”
The boy shot him a grateful, if still somewhat panicked, smile and bolted for the door behind the counter. Solomon closed it quietly behind the boy and took a seat at the counter again. He tried his best to not look overly nonchalant as the bell over the door chimed again and two figures dressed in all black walked in.
