Kaito woke, and the memories of the night before dropped into his mind like a two tonne iron anvil. Someone had died on his watch, where he could have prevented it. Someone who would be found by the police, head caved in at the bottom of a thirty-story drop. They might wonder why the Kid had not caught them when thirty stories gave him ample time to do so.
But then they’d wonder about the sniper rifle next to his body.
The lack of identification on that fallen body.
And if he was lucky, somebody would dig a little deeper.
