if only it had been as easy as they say it is
They pull away, lips swollen and skin damp in sweat as they make fit in some prop closet in some broadcast building they coincidentally met in. Victoria forgot if it was KBS or MBC because it's not supposed to matter.
Nichkhun's beautiful. His eyes are beautiful. His hands are beautiful. His body's beautiful. Nichkhun smiles at her lovingly and touches her in all the right places. (where it feels like it's right)
And they fit. Because quite frankly, Victoria's quite beautiful herself and she knows it. Nichkhun knows it.
She fixes herself in an instant and leaves before somebody decides to barge in unannounced. Their so-called virtual marriage isn't consist of such blasphemy or whatever it is Koreans call it. He follows a few minutes later, looking like nothing happened.
Because nothing really happened. They both established and accepted that fact long ago. It's a hobby or a past time or whatever, they both know that they're in love with somebody else anyway.
Nichkhun can live with that.
Victoria smiles at him, eyes wrinkling at the sides. A reminder they're accompanied by the eyes and ears of the public. Sulli greets him a cheerful 'hello, appa!' while Krystal sports another one of her timid and equally suspicious smile. He doesn't want to think about it.
Her hair's a shade lighter and he mentions that he noticed it because that's what good husbands do.
When the cameras are off and the crew had already gone home is when they go back to the normal system - where they don't have to pretend that they love each other - where Nichkhun is just Nichkhun and Victoria is Qian who loves Kyuhyun instead.
Krystal appears by his side as he turn the lights off. Click - The kitchen lights are off.
“You shouldn't try if you know you can't. Making out with her wouldn't change the fact that don't like her,” Krystal snaps at him in English. Click.
“I like Victoria..” - “It's just that?” She supplies the words for him. “It's just that I don't. What is it that you want, Krystal?” Click. Nichkhun tried to sound superior but none of those worked with the Jungs.
Krystal shrugs and for a while he feels relieved. Click - all the lights are off. The feeling of loneliness haunts him as he takes a step forward. She doesn't say anything after that. Not goodbye. Nothing but Nichkhun takes it to heart that maybe that is what he wanted - for people to shut up about the marriage, about Victoria, about everything.
He plans on saying goodbye but Victoria is asleep. Her mouth slightly open and make-up still on her face. Nichkhun just smiles at Sulli before leaving.
Nichkhun closes his eyes and lets sleep drift him elsewhere. He's never had dreams anymore anyway so he's sure, their virtual marriage -- Victoria -- won't penetrate his thought this time.
He jolts awake when they drive over a speed bump, making him jump a little in his seat and hitting his head on a cool metal in the process. Nichkhun touches the back of his head and groans in pain. Junho is there to slap him hard and mumble something before facing the other direction and sleep again.
He goes back to sleep too.
Nichkhun realizes, a bit later than he should have, that he lives normally without her. He eats, sleeps, sings, dances normally with or without her. He's still him by the end of the day. No harm done.
Or so he thinks.
Because most of the time, he's being bombarded by questions like 'how is Victoria-sshi doing?' or to be more specific 'how are you and Victoria-sshi doing?' And it's amazing how one show ruins your perfectly good life.
Or so he thinks.
He meets Sunye at the basement practice room. Nichkhun doesn't really keep track of what routine she's dancing or what song is playing, all that he can see are the movements - how her hips sway and her fingers brushing against her arm slowly. It was technically a Wednesday so he's not Nichkhun who tries to be a good husband.
The music's playing. He's sure of that but what he isn't sure of is how he got into this situation. Sunye's sucking on his lower lip. His hands are exploring the inside of her shirt. Nichkhun smiles into the kiss and parts his lips slightly, not a tiny bit bothered - it's not a Tuesday anyway.

“Qian, I've missed you.” It's the way he calls her over that makes her swoon. It's like Kyuhyun needs her, wants her and loves her and it's like all else could vanish and he wouldn't have noticed anyway because he has her.
Kyuhyun wraps his arms around her waist. “I've missed you.”
She sighs and buries her face in his chest. “Me too, Kyuhyun. I swear I'll make it up to you next time. How about Saturday?” She pulls away and he looks at her straight on the eyes. She still has her false eyelashes on.
“Isn't that our time-to-watch-'khuntoria'-and-tease-Kyuhyun day?” He says nonchalantly and it earns him a forceful slap on the shoulder.
“It's not my fault you're jelly all the time.”
“Is it wrong for me to be jealous? I'm your boyfriend for goodness sakes!” And he's doing that thing again - making her swoon. “I like it when you get jealous anyway. You don't have to be angry.” Victoria pouts and tugs on the end of his sleeve.
“I'm not angry. Just.....just..”
“Jealous?”
“Qian!” Kyuhyun groans in frustration. “Remind me why I love you again?” He asks because he gets this aegyo filled playful monster today while on most days he just has amazing beautiful Qian that brightens his day.
“Are you sure you want to be reminded?”
“Yes. Maybe. Wait. Wh--” Victoria pushes his shoulder down and presses her lips to his. Blue sky wallpaper in the background.
“Remind me again.”
“Oh, Kyuhyun. Buy me ice cream and I'll think about it.”
Qian wishes she can erase days. She wishes Tuesdays didn't exist. Because then she wouldn't have to go and try to love Khun and on other days go back to completely loving Kyuhyun. Victoria doesn't want her heart to be broken twice.

The crew unlocks the house for him. Victoria would catch up, they say. Click, click, click, click - all the lights are on. If only it's that easy to pretend and forget.
Nichkhun slept in his free time. He's not good at waiting. He's not good at a lot of things so why are people expecting too much from him. And if so, why are people telling him what he should be and he should do?
He's tired of it all really and if he can just disappear into a black hole and wallow in nothing then he'll choose that instead of this. Victoria arrives and shakes his shoulder violently. “Wake up. Virtual marriage on, oppa.”
But he thinks those feelings are relatively the same anyway. Yea, virtual marriage on.
He fixes his hair and scoots closer to her, leaving no space between them. Like they can both choke on air and need release but the camera starts rolling and they act like how they usually are, only less of themselves and more of the mannequins of the show. People like them better that way.
Sometimes, he'll catch a glimpse of her eyes and see a spark of sincerity there. A spark reserved for Kyuhyun. She cooks again, like she always does and they feed each other lovingly.
It's amusing how he can love and hate her at the same time. True, a part of him admits that maybe he loves her too, in all the ways that she isn't, in all the ways that she pretends, in a broadcast station prop closet, in all else but the real her. Nichkhun hopes that she does too. Even for just 6 hours so that they share something mutual.
They end the filming and go home. Home where their heart is. Qian dials Kyuhyun's number and he answers the call instantly. “Meet me at the usual?”
No, it wasn't a question. “Mhm. Wait for me there.” Kyuhyun's heart sinks somewhere between his stomach and his liver. It's one of those days when Qian needs a reminder that she loves him and not Nichkhun - oh, it's a Tuesday.
“I love you, you know that right?” Victoria runs to his arms and embraces him tightly and he runs his hand down her back. “Yea, I know.”
Now, she doesn't know. Victoria isn't so sure because virtual marriages aren't just virtual marriages. Juhyun and Yonghwa are the biggest and truest proof of all. She devours on his lips, yanking on his hair, touching his hand and the bare of his neck - to know he's real, that he's there, that he's the one she loves.
And then another.
Because Nichkhun's there at the back of her mind, holding her left hand. She holds onto Kyuhyun tighter, almost to the point of crushing him but Nichkhun doesn't go away and rather than inflicting pain in either of them, she hurts herself more.
*
His phone rings and it's unusual to see that Victoria's calling. “Hey, why'd you call?”
“If we were to meet in a different condition, would you rather choose that instead of how we did?”
“Honestly, no, because you'll still love me either way.” Nichkhun answers jokingly.
“Right.” She replies with sarcasm and presses the end button. Maybe, she will.
Sunye drags him to the basement practice room before he can put his phone down and react. Nichkhun decides he'll forget about it. It was probably just PMS or something.

Victoria knows she's a goner when she entirely associates Tuesdays with her virtual husband. Only one day, she reminds herself. Six days are allotted for Kyuhyun and that's when things get complicated. It shouldn't be that way. She shouldn't have a schedule on who to love on which days.
But she continues on living that way. When filming ends, she's back to Kyuhyun. (He's back to Sunye.)
They fit that way. All the tiny broken pieces of their heart fit because they know in themselves that the weight of loving two people at the same time crushes their hearts but they learn to live with it.
