→ Seohyun has many regrets but there is one she regrets for all the days of her life.
There are times when Yonghwa wonders what could have been. Many of those times, he tells himself that can’t turn back time. All of those times, he wishes he can.
Seohyun is scared. Seohyun is always scared so she doesn’t know when not to be. Courage is such a foreign feeling in her chest. Hyoyeon tells her to be happy and she knows she is, but she’s not strong enough to tell the world that she has finally fallen in love. Love which is also a foreign feeling in her chest, in her tongue, in her whole being. Love beyond her whole misconception of it. In the end of the show, she doesn’t.
No words part from her lips but a chaste goodbye. I’ll miss you. It was the end, and just how she wanted it to be. Almost.
A few years later, she overhears a song from the radio on her way to a photo shoot. Seohyun knows it’s his voice. She has this certain dislike for it. His voice is unstable and when he tries to reach the high notes, she can imagine him stumble over a haystack or choke on rubber. Seohyun has always preferred Jonghyun’s voice more. But this voice playing on the radio is Yonghwa’s and it tugs on her soul somehow. She hates it.
“Hey Oppa, can we listen to Sooyoung unni’s radio instead?”
It takes a few seconds to register to her manager so she catches the sound of his laugh and she feels her heart stop a little. Seohyun grasps her seatbelt tightly and manages to stop the tears from falling. She could have been happy too. But she chose not to be.
