Well even if my job search is going terribly it's nice to know that Dan's isn't.  He wasn't even looking for a job, but last week the owner of the company sent out an advertisement saying they were offering a secondement for a manager's position.  As far as I can tell, his company hierarchy is like this

I had been looking for an animation job for five months (Not as long as eight months, I know) and working a survival job for about a month and a half. Then my friend Ben moved to Ottawa temporarily because his girlfriend got a 4-month co-op position in the federal government. Objectively speaking, he is not a great artist. He emailed me to say, "I got a three month contract for Mercury Filmworks!" I was happy for him, but I cried privately.

My boyfriend is a little terrible at feelings and was like, "Suck it up and just keep trying!" and that made me cry harder.

Sometimes it's hard not to have the emotions of a five year old. It happens.

Unemployment is torture. I'm sorry, Diana. *Hugs*.

But eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, potential wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And also, I am in the same situation. Except we're both looking for jobs. :) :) But EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE potential wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are not a terrible person; you can't hold yourself responsible for what you feel, just how you act. Nobody who isn't a character from Seventh Heaven doesn't feel jealous or resentful sometimes - I know I often do about way pettier things than important life stuff like finding a job. It sounds like you ARE being a supportive girlfriend, even if you worry you could/should feel more supportive. So hang in there - you'll find something soon :-) And forgive yourself for not being Roma Downey on Touched By an Angel :-)
