Experiments are fun.

Two days ago Sean and I concocted some 'Rice Kris-peeps' (he came up with the punny name-don't blame me).

Directions and two VERY unflattering photos of me (and some amusing ones of Sean). Enjoy.

I and my roommate have started a garden. I've planted 3 plumeria cuttings, along with a bunch of other stuff including random crap from the kitchen (tomato ( Read more... )

SEIU and UFCW both actively pursue unionizing Wal*Mart workers. UFCW also runs www.wakeupwalmart.com . i don't much about the unions themselves, but i'm sure they wouldn't say no to a little cash tossed their way. also, there is the DSA.

I'll look into the unions (they might take donations-I'm sure that striking workers need financial support). It would be wonderful if the Wal*Mart workers unionized.

I'm not particularly anti-corporation, though, so I don't think the DSA would be right for me. Don't get me wrong; I'm all for socialized health care and higher minimum wages. I'm just looking for a nicer version of capitalism, not actual socialism.

Yeah, but the see-through plastic results in much higher bills for cooling. I'm all for exercise wheels; I just think there are more efficient methods.

I'm a pretty big fan of all the microfinance stuff going on. Besides the healthy success rate (from various articles I've read; I'm afraid I don't have numbers for you) it appears to have, it's more my style to give money to poor people and tell them to pay it back, rather than just giving them shit. :)

I was actually going to contribute to one of those anyways a while back... thisisauserid April 13 2007, 18:12:48 UTC
I think I once went to the website for one of them (the Grameen Bank probably) but I didn't immediately see a 'make a donation page' and probably got distracted by a shiny object before I could do a proper search.

Wow-musta been really shiny:

Well, that was easy. I'll have to look further into it when I have time.

lol, you should find some anti-walmart group and donate to them!
i like that idea of contributing to charity every time you buy something there, good thinking.

also, the pics are awesome. i love the one with sean about to cut the string with the knife over the peep.
