86 Greenway Terrace

Through the latticework into
A chaos warm and full
People fill the space
Familiar blood runs through their veins

I smile, but the aura has worn thin

Two sisters
Discuss their favorites poisons
The elder is encased in jade, but
The younger: god, she is so young
She can drink with the best of them

I smile through my broken illusions

Climb a generation to
An elder sister’s disapproving voice
When I heard it last, it warned:
You will not stay with him, it cannot last
She looks down at me from her self-made pedestal

I smile at how small she looks

On every surface
We are frozen in a bygone time
Smiling, but I feel no nostalgia
For smiles born of innocence
We only had potential then

I smile, I am thankful for it all

ps: happy thanksgiving everyone!
