On LJ & Twitter

My previous post was analysis from a Twitter-post. The Tweet said:
- Singing along to "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" in the car this morning, I realised that I'm a fiend for great disco tunes. LJ Analysis.

(yes, it's a Twoosh)

The point of this post is to outline where I see differences between Twitter and LJ.

I get rather irritated with people who ( Read more... )

Thank you for that simple consideration. I appreciate it more than you know, and agree wholeheartedly. In fact, after being deeply aggravated by twitter posts on lj, I decided not to get a twitter account, myself.

Other people's sloppy use of handy services isn't necessarily a reason to deny yourself the usefulness of the service ( ... )

Heh, I'm actually with elfy on it all. Though to be fair, I sort of rolled my eyes at Twitter in general. If I thought I'd actually use it, I'd've made an account, but I cannot see the need for snippets, or people I don't know following me around. ;)

How I use Twitter isn't the same as how others use it. I read a blog article by a Twitter friend last week, about what she says is the reasoning behind that service:
http://businessenergy.wordpress.com/2009/02/08/why-you-need-twitter-or-twitter-for-furriners/

So, we have differing views.

We don't have to agree on what Twitter is for - that, I think, is the beauty of Twitter; because it's so unstructured (being simply a conduit for small snippets of *anything*) it can be used in ways that haven't been thought-of by the designers or the users. People find their own niche, and you can search and/or browse for others who share your ideas & ideals, or for people who will stretch and challenge them.

Well, since I don't have much to say on either LJ *or* Twitter, I reckon I'm safe. Or I'll be defriended due to lack of interest! Hmmm.

My favourite posters aren't necessarily the most frequent posters. In fact, I defriended my two most prolific posting LJ friends!
