Anyone know of an issue that might cause a Nokia phone (N95-3) to randomly fail to ring (and to vibrate) when it receives a call? Mine's been doing it lately and it's driving me nuts. mexicanjewlizrd dropped by home today and I didn't even know thanks to the stupid damn device. Grr ( Read more... )

I think you're right - it's time for a reset to defaults and a reflash.

Mine's a Telstra issue job. Stupid Telstra are on some ANCIENT firmware version still, and won't release updates even though the new versions fix many known bugs and issues. To upgrade the firmware to something less prehistoric originally I had to change the product code to the standard generic N95-3 Nokia code first - and suddenly the battery life improved, it became more reliable, a bunch of app bugs went away, and it generally worked lots better.

Oh, and I'd like to return that virtual hug. Real ones are better, but alas so much less practical at present.

By the way, Patrick's working at the deli today. Cheese geekery might be entertaining.

Now, time to get back to my actual job - then go windsurfing until I can no longer stand up in this crazy 25-to-30-knot goodness.

Trying to figure out how to schedule walky things, BTW, given apparently opposed schedules and the need for awakeness and daylight. It's not looking easy :S

I don't know, but I do know that my phone and wolflullaby's were both playing up yesterday. It might have been the heat?

Nope; it's been playing up for a while, though since I reset the ringtone it's stopped ringing entirely. Grr.

Time for a reset to defaults and firmware reflash. Sigh.

That'd have to be a hell of a knock - I was over at Kandy's in Lathlain. I would've buggered off to catch him if I'd known he was about though, hence the evil phone grumbling.

Now it's stopped ringing at all. Stupid bloody thing.
