I waiver between disenchantment and hopeful romanticism. But I refuse to believe that the wonder of being in love is reserved only for those who are under 25. I try to kick that occasionally, because I don't want people to think I'm just holding out for a fairy tale...but I can't help it. I watched to many Disney movies as a child.
Perhaps it's perspective. I've always felt if there's something you want, go get it. The only one holding you back is you---unless you've been arrested and are posting from a jail cell... ;)

Not necessarily true in all cases. For general achievements you're right: Life doesn't happen to you, you happen to life.
For things like love, there are many factors that aren't so easy to just grab hold of. Too many uncertainties both internal and external. It's a more complex animal, because often taking initiative is the single worst thing you could do.

BTW my brother, who would post from a jail cell if he could, is doing what he can to make life his own... A good inspiration for those of us that have options.
