Might I add, that at my age, a rubber-blow-up birthday cake is much safer than a real one with real candles? (My mother likes to make the old stand-by fire-hazzard joke.)

Today, I found out that one of my friend's husband just passed away, early this morning. They hadn't been married a year.

Tonight, I went to recover my laundry from the laundry room. It had only been there for one day. I found that half of it was behind the drier, because one of my housemates hadn't the inclination to be a bit more careful. This has happened before.
