It is my own fault, really, because I have 3 vessels at my desk with which to drink my morning tea...so going into a shop and getting tea in a paper cup :: horsdumonde is wincing

Re: steeping versus stewing...?!?!thistleluridOctober 5 2007, 22:43:43 UTC
[ problem ] The end of the bag that they place between the ridges is open. Yet another problem with the bag is that, after a long period of steeping(as I am known to keep the bags in indefinitely) the paper saturates to a point of breaking....and the tea end rips off and into the tea.
They would be perfect, in theory, and I have many. Unfortunately it is all I can do most days to get out the door with clothes on, as Im prone to cover burrowing. :/ It is a full time job, and leaves little time in the morning for tea making.
I think Ive learned my final lesson.....I will make it up to the office one way or another.... without drippage or burn wounds. ::fist in air::
I dare say though... this is a phenomenon that does not exist in Melbourne, Australia... I have never seen such a weird tea bag in all my life! Is it open at the top and devoid of a string & paper that is supposed to anchor it on the outside because the tea shop actually fills the tea leaves you want themselves into the open baggy?
The hardcore environmentalists that walk among us would leap into action to point out that the majority of said tea bags are bleached, and the staples aren't biodegradable. The tea connoisseurs will leap into action to point out how pre-bagged tea is inferior to loose leaf brew.
(Personally, I'm very eh about the whole thing and take the middle ground with Republic of Tea's stringless bio-friendly tea bags. Every cup is an adventure in not scalding my fingers while removing the bag!)
Now this is the kind of information I was hoping for, thanks! I knew there would be many school of thought/action on this. What happened to the ol' tea spoon to remove the bag? or one of those cool clamp thingos? :)
