I figure they could reshoot key scenes around her, and splice some dialog, then kill her off-screen. As terrible as that sounds, would it be better or worse than re-casting for IX or arbitrarily killing her off-screen then? I don't know. :(
I don't know why my comments aren't showing up - I mean, it's being "counted" (as in "1 comment/2comments" etc) but not visible, so I can't edit. But, anyway, I wanted to add that I just read she'd finished filming Ep VIII before her death. Don't know what they'll do for Ep IX, but VIII, at least, is ok.
They can reshoot around her and splice her dialog, then have her die off-screen. I don't know if that would be better or worse than killing her in IX or recasting.
No, it still doesn't seem real. And Debbie Reynolds dying too, just a day later... I hope Carrie's daughter and brother have a strong support network; I can't imagine their pain right now.
I want a recast. I love Carrie Fisher. She is the only actor celebrity I broke down and cried over (I also cried over John Glenn). She was an inspiration to me, but as more than Princess Leia. She was helping cope as a grew older, helping so many with mental illness. She had burst back onto the public scene as this amazing, positive influence.
And that was on top of being Princess Leia. I feel like if they kill Leia, then we have lost an amazing inspiration character as well as an amazing inspirational person. Loosing the person is inevitable. It is life. But we don't have to loose the character!! I am still sad Star Trek has decided to not recast Chekov.
I will hate to see Star Wars do the same, but I fear that is the decision they will make, supposedly out of respect. The funny ting sis, I feel like Carrie Fisher would have wanted Leia to live on.
Yeah, I don't know. As much as I want Leia to survive to the end of the series, it does feel slightly disrespectful to recast, or use more CGI. (I didn't mind so much with Peter Cushing in Rogue One, since he's been dead a long time.) I wonder who could play her. She does have a half-sister who's an actress.
