Lame or Game?

Next week, the week before Thanksgiving, is Spirit Week at Aislin's school. Monday is crazy hair day -- I think we'll go with purple and gold since those are her school colors -- Tuesday is Pajama Day and Wednesday is school colors day. Can 2nd and 3rg graders handle duct tape? Are they strong enough to pull it off the roll and tear it?

The thing you have the first graders doing sounds hard. I'd have a hard time doing it here.
How many kids are in the classroom?

When I was in first grade we did a project where the teacher made a long table out of paper on the back wall of the classroom- like just the silhouette- nothing fancy.
Then the kids had to make the food (turkey, corn, rolls)and candle sticks and pies and cakes and we all got to go up front and tape our dish to the wall over the table and we were so proud of ourselves we all about fucking exploded. I don't know how we decided who made what... maybe we pulled it out of a hat. I don't know. But we drew them, cut them out and colored them and it was mega fun.

Good point. I will put scissors in the bags so they don't have to tear the duct tape. It's actually more like colored painter's tape....so not quite as tough.

The classes are all about 28 kids.

How about they throw the ball and tell a lie building on the first lie, like "I saw a purple pig on the way to school" or "The pig was drinking from the trash can" and then "The trash can is full of milk"... "OWL MILK!"..."The owl had three eyes"...and then make them all do stuff while holding up their end of the lie, creating a web of lies and getting every all tangled in deceit. FUN.

Sounds fun! It's possible that we are behind the curve in MI, but many of our first graders would have a hard time writing anything legible.

I'd love to know how the duct tape and paper thing goes. I might skip the staplers...
