He thinks about how he can't live without his brother. Or ammunition. Or ice cream.

oh, how lovely. i love the juxtaposition of that, the sort of summarization of [the way Sam sees] their lives---they've got each other, and hunting, and the weird, sweet little creature comforts they've picked up along the way. everything about all three of these ficlets is so familiar and soft and glowy, and i'm all curled up in a giant hoodie that belonged to my former flatmate with this cold windy weather outside, just soaking it in. ♥

the idea of the two of them having a sort of...snow day makes me smile. as always, you made it so vivid in so few words, and when i said i was just all snuggled up and basking, that really about covered it.
