title: luminaria
author: moveablehistory
rating: 14a
pairing: sam/dean
notes: 707 words long. Consider
this song (iheart, piracy) by Ian Moore. Also, it's about as angsty as I get. Which means you know exactly how it's going to end, haha. ♥

My two favourite parts:
Dean's suddenly reminded what rock salt to the chest feels like.
the one he wore all last winter and that probably still smelled like him and woodsmoke and the apple cider he stole from a grocery and managed to spill all over himself when it was too hot.
The first because it's so painful and such a good description/method of description, and the second because, well, because.
Beautiful and heart-breaking and perfect ending.

Thank you. :) I was originally going to stop the story with Sam leaving, but I just couldn't do it. I'm so glad you like it. ♥

anyway. i love the tone - kind of quiet and disjointed, all these shortshort scenes - and he knows it isn't his but Sam doesn't and Dean can't think of a way to say it's not me that wouldn't come out harsh and twisted. Sam's eyes widen. He nods because it reads like sam knows dean's possessed and knows not to believe anything he says, and just... my god, these boys love each other. and the very last scene, sam holding on to dean on the bed, i love that. they're closer than brothers, you know?

I was trying awfully hard to have it come across how Sam really gets Dean, but he still screws it up - all bull-in-a-china-shop, you know? But I'm glad it worked. :D

*clutches heart*
He's not sure how much time has passed, or how long he slept. Everything was still fuzzy from pain, and he wished Sam had better timing.
Ooh, you accept being 'abandoned' far too easily!
*hugs him*
Nice, hurty stuff.
