Guess who's back? Back again...

I had a long return post plotted in my head. The lead-in was about how I had to change my LiveJournal layout in May, because it still had a Christmas fireplace header from when I changed it last December. But, that post percolated too long in my head and now it's evaporated from memory ( Read more... )

Personally, I'd skip the Duck Tour- it's better to walk around and see stuff up close/actually get to see stuff.

This is awesome: http://www.marybakereddylibrary.org/exhibits/mapparium

The aquarium is pretty pricey but if you like sea life or penguins, it's completely worth it.

Newberry street is pretty interesting for shopping.

Whoa, that map exhibit looks awesome! Will definitely add it to my TO-DO list. And may check out Newbury St. Thanks for sharing. :D

I agree that I would skip the Duck Tour, unless you like that sort of thing (guided tours) and are trying to save time. I did a Duck Tour in Pittsburgh and it was alright, but drive-bys aren't very conducive to actually seeing anything!

If you're a big walker, I would do the Freedom Trail, which takes you through all the big historical areas of Downtown, although keep it mind it's like, 2 miles at least.

The big spots are probably Faneuil Hall, Newbury Street (if you like shopping), Boston Commons (like Central Park), the wharf (which the Aquarium is on), the museum of fine arts, and if you've never been to Harvard, definitely go to Cambridge & check it out. I'm biased because I live in Cambridge but I LOVE it here. I can def give you more recs when you decide where you'll be :)

Oooo, thanks for the recs! Yep, I was definitely planning on showing my sister Harvard Sq/Kendall Sq, etc. She was 10 when she saw Harvard, so I'm refreshing her memory. I've been to Cambridge once or twice, but not since freshman year of college (which eerily enough, is almost 5 years ago. EGADS). I haven't decided yet on a hotel yet for the first night: whether to stay IN Boston proper or a cheaper hotel and take the T in.

I did The Freedom Trail when I went to Boston the first time with my family. It was 13, and although I loved it... my parents and siblings did not: "It's too hot, the walk's too long, this is boring, wah wah wah." Haha, gotta love family. ;-)
