Bright Lights
Title: Bright Lights

Jongdae stared longingly into the bright lights of the stadium. He knows he shouldn’t, but it was the only that reminds him of her now. Those bright lights remind him of the bright lights that almost blinded him one fateful day of January.
As he sang the opening lines of Open Arms, he noticed this girl. He wasn’t looking at him. Her eyes were fixated on Baekhyun. She seemed to be swooned by the way Baekhyun goes through his lines. Smoothly, slowly, his voice echoed through the speakers creating waves all over the open area, creating ripples all over the audiences hearts and souls as he sang.
Baekhyun had that power. He can send every word, sing his heart out, and let his message go through and melt the coldest ice. If only he had that. Jongdae moved across the stage, trying to get nearer to the girl. As near as the barriers can allow.
He was an idol. His world is caged within a few meters of a stage open as it can be. He could try to reach, but he would always be the “unreachable” one. Unreachable, like some kind of god shoved in some kind of pedestal that he, ironically, built for himself. Built of all his dreams.
If only he could go down and throw those away, would she notice? Or would she still look at another man?
Or would she look at him but still deem herself unworthy of him, Chen? Little does she know, Jongdae is not worthy of her.
For she’s like a bright light that glows in a sea of stars, a light so big that you’ll not fail to notice. A light so big that’ll surely wake you up and make you warm.
Just like a bright light that guides you in the dark, leading you to a fork in the road, letting you decide whether you’ll leave the pedestal and come with her towards unending happiness, or stay forever in the momentary happiness brought by the bright lights.
