Good news, finally!!!
Well, someone is smiling down on me.....
I successfully purchased 10 feet of vacuum hose - for 17 cents a foot.
I am still employed (but it is still early...)
I found a ride for my tent to Pennsic...
Things ARE looking up. -
Well, hell...
Tried to cast. The FIRST flask blew out when I turned on the pump. It blew out, and spewed 1100 degree investment into the vacuum hose, thereby sealing the hose and making the whole casting table shake, rattle, and roll.....

Spoke to the dang Muse...
She said it wasn't her fault. Really. She wanted to know how I could possibly blame her for equipment failures.
I apologized, and immediately things started getting better.
- Got the buckle and tip finished. One small glitch in that the one plate on the back of the buckle is in white, rather than yellow. (Note to self: clean off the patina ( Read more... )

I give up...
I just plain give up.
Got the new mold made, shot 30 rose waxes, got them tree'd up and in the kiln.
I forgot how much I hate making the Museum of London buckle and tip. Dang if I cannot solder the plates on to save my life. Stoopid soft solder too. Should be easy.
Why has the Muse abandoned me? ugh Maybe I should take the hint. -

Got the mold open, and shot a wax. No joy. Going to have to do the other RTV. No casting today, going to make for a very long week.... -

The good news is, I got the proto-type out of the rubber.
The bad news is the proto-type is a gooey mess, and needs to be cleaned completely before I can mold it again.
The good news is, I found 2 different types of RTV.
