I was just browsing through my photos from my trip to Rome in 2011 and I came across this photo from the Panthenon. I decided to see if I could do something different with it now than I did those four years ago when I first processed the photo. I'm deliberately not telling you which is the photo I just processed. I prefer the bw image, the color is just murky.

In your opinion, if I lightened the shadows a bit would it improve the photo?

B&W. The Pantheon is essentially monochrome, so in the colour picture all the other elements are more prominent (and distracting).

(As well, the colour picture is both murky and has prominent blue casts in the shadows.)

Black and white. Couldn't the tourists be convinced to wear togas? That would have been awesome.

I also prefer the black and white. The reds in the color are too vibrant...it makes the photo look strange. More specifically, the red on the horse and carriage seems cool at first, but then the especially vibrant pants of the small tourist in the background (to the left of the horse's head) and the too vibrant red neon sign on the far right...it is too much, it is distracting from the beautiful building.
