Tap Chiens

La Bottine Souriante are completely and utterly awesome.

Yes, their percussion section is someone tapdancing.
Sometimes whilst actually dancing, sometimes whilst sitting, playing fiddle, or guitar, or something else - (check out the guy on the left).
And they are definitely having at least as much fun up there on the stage as anyone watching

Apparently, it means "The Smiling Boot".
Also, apparently, their 2006 Womadelaide appearence was their first Australian tour...

Aha! You're thinking of La Volee d'Castors. Who were there in '03, and do translate as "The Flying Beavers". (=

Oh btw Bruce, on a completely unrelated note... what's your preferred brand of beer?

Um, Coopers is always a safe bet. Pale, Mild or Sparkling are all well proven. The weather's starting to lend itself to the drinking of Dark and Stout, too.

Little Creatures or Blue Tongue are very nice if you want to get something a little more exotic.

Basically, anything from a smaller Australian brewery is generally good.

Does that help any...?

Tap dancing is fantastic as percussion. Love it. There was a possibly Chinese movie on several nights ago where some supposedly (but not) blind old man was going around killing everyone who was once part of some dancing troupe. I only saw the last 20 minutes or so, and it ended in one giant dancing scene. However wide you open your eyes, you can't see what you can't see.
