Oh show...

I may have cried absolute buckets at the second season finale of the West Wing. Seriously, buckets. And that end sequence, with the song and the build up and oh fantastic television. Seriously I am in utter love with this show. Oddly my personal ship is so far CJ/Toby. Mainly because I think that he is and has been silently in love with her for ( Read more... )

I have read the books!

I kind of had a similar moment: I have gotten a friend who hasn't read the books to watch the show. And while I'm on Feast for Crows now, at the time Sean Bean was first cast I was still reading the first book. And he jokingly said "I'll watch as long as Sean Bean's character manages not to turn traitor or die." To which I dismissively replied, "No worries, he's the main character, there's no way they're killing him off!"

Yeeeeeah.

Anyway, I'm totally with you. The conversation between Robert and Cersei was absolutely amazing and I loved it.

Exactly! And for everyone watching the series that Main Character effect is compounded by the fact that its Sean fricking Bean! He's one of their main stars. Surely an actor like that you only kill him off if its a film ( ... )

Oh, your poor Titillating Babysitter TB! Ned's death will be painful enough without the shock effect, eugh.

Happily, TV Ned isn't my Ned, so I doubt I'll be as much affected as I was by the books. (There's differences - book Ned is more lean and internal and dry, I think. Less wise alpha, more reluctantly alphised beta. That's the Ned of my soul and loins. I don't mind that Sean Bean Ned is different though. It's just completely differentiated in my head.)

Who's your favourite character, btw? I am harbouring a crush the size of Transylvania on Peter Dinklage. And found myself kinda shipping Tyrion/Cat a whole lot. In fact, I'm pretty sure I prefer TV!Lannisters to book!Lannisters. Detto TV!Arya. But I feel TV!Dany is a little bit too sociopathic-appearing - possibly just because we don't get to see her actual thoughts.

Well personally I'm finding it really bad knowing that it is going to happen and not being able to stop it. There is just this horrible feeling of impending, and indeed rapidly approaching, doom. Bad things are coming and, as that wonderful shot of Arya practising while Ned looked on with the sounds of real battle ringing in his ears shows, soon everyone is going to be caught up in this dreadful fight with no more wooden swords ( ... )

Also, Doctor Who... yeah, that's my general issue with Moff (um, except I don't personally find him scary, nor do I actually understand his plots any of the time. But! Dude writes good one-liners!); HOWEVER I've been loving this season. Especially the Gaiman episode. It's living in my soul like a blue flame of looooooooove.

Also, Canton! I really liked Canton. And I loved the way Amy and Eleven are behaving like actualfax friends now. (Swearing on fish custard! "Did you wish really hard?"!) I hated the last ep, but, on the whole, this season has had me grinding my teeth a whole lot less than S5.

... so far.

I think I just kind of don't care as much any more. I mean there were some pretty big cliff hangers and red button issues raised in the most recent episode but I'm just a bit... meh. I'm going to keep watching, don't get me wrong, but I'm not as fannishly engaged as I used to be.

But yes, I did love the Gaiman episode. So much old school love and the old console room! Just seeing it may have made me tear up. I mean the new one is cool with all the different levels but you can never really see all of it, where as the old one, its all there, the coral and everything.

*Sigh*
