Wanting to settle a bet with my brother:

I was in NYC over the vacation on January 30th. I was in SAKS, on 5th Ave, and I saw Ian Thorpe. I mean, it was his face, extremely tall, tanned, and the same haircut.

Plausible? (well, whether or not it is, I know I saw him, so...)

Why ask whether it was plausible if you knew it was him? The options are:
1) nobody believes you, but you still got to see Ian Thorpe so who cares? or
2) people believe you and are insanely jealous.

If he indeed did arrive by then, it's probably likely that it was him. And if it wasn't, this means there are Ian lookalikes out there that must be found. And dated.

I'm hoping you mean December 30th, but it is very plausible. He was invited to be a part of the New Year's celebration at Times Square by the New York City 2012 Olympic Commitee. They're trying to win the bid to host the Olympics there. Knowing Ian, he probably arrived days earlier to shop!

I am incredibly jealous of you. I live in New York and was debatng spending that Thursday in the City, shoping, running errands, and what not. You are a very lucky girl indeed.
