Collective Name: Forty-Nine
Other Names: Ru, La, Der, Po, Vii, Innocence
Gender: male
Age: 16 years old
Status: Mental Patient
Distinguishing Factors: crazy, has burns all over his arms, often seen wearing/carrying a straight jacket like its some sort of weird security blanket.
History: Forty-Nine was found on the doorstep to the hospital at the age of five. He knew his birthday and age, but seemed unable or unwilling to recall his own name or his parents' names. Soon after diagnosed as DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder, more commonly known (incorrectly) as Multiple Personality Disorder) as well as Paranoid Schizophrenia in the form of visual and auditory hallucinations. Through therapy and medication the doctors were able to tame the hallucinations to the point where he could outwardly appear normal when dealing with the other children. Though a relapse caused the hallucinations to return, he found that if he covered one of his eyes, they would stop--and so he wears an eyepatch at all times.
No progress, however, was made on the boy's DID. The doctors managed to weed out one of the more dangerous personas, but doing so only caused the boy to fragment further, splitting into six known personas, although only four five of them have names currently.
Innocence: His Innocence is located tangled up in his brain. It sits mostly behind the optical nerves of his left eye, but the strands spread throughout the whole brain. The doctors have tried surgery to sample part of it, but fear that removing too much may kill him.
Other Personas:
FORTY-NINE (speaks with normal font) is the main persona, and the one considered to 'own' the body. He's extremely curious and intelligent, often to the point of being childlike, but has a deep pessimistic streak.
LA (speaks with italics) is the only female persona so far (the body is male, after all), but is still rather tomboyish. She likes to bother Forty-Nine when he's controlling their body, but doesn't usually control the body herself. La can be very argumentative, but has a good sense of humor.
DER (speaks with garamond) is one of the 'oldest' of the personas, maturity-wise. He's very timid and awkward, but can be very sarcastic when he feels comfortable around you. He's the only one of the group that is religious (Roman Catholic), even when most of the others are Atheist or Agnostic. Der can be very creative when given the chance, but doesn't often show it.
PO (speaks with bold) is the most childlike of the personas. He is loud, wild, and playful. Even though he is like a crazy five year-old, Po is very important in his role as the Secret Keeper of the group. He holds all the memories that the others want to hide from. However, because of his role, Po gets a lot of the backfire from the medications they take.
VII (speaks with papyrus) is the newest of the group, but not the youngest. She's the second girl and tends to see La as her 'big sister', especially when they team up against the others to do something. She acts like a little girl who wants only to cover things with pink frills, unicorns, and have pretend tea parties.
INNOCENCE (speaks with courier) only appears when confronted with Akuma, Noah, or during times when there is need to defend their body. It has no gender, and tends to act mindlessly and violently. It hasn't been documented by the Doctors yet because there are no Akuma in their world to activate it. Forty-Nine and co. are currently all unaware of Innocence's existence.
THE OTHERS so far only six voices have actually announced themselves to the outside world. This doesn't mean there aren't others though.
