The rockband saga... or how I spent $1000 in 2 days

So, the other day my lovely wife chennpug says to me, "Honey, I want Rock Bank." I carefully respond back that we don't have a system to play rockband on (it's true, we only have a PS 1). "Honey, I want it anyways ( Read more... )

I already had an XBox 360, and I have a decent 27" non-HD TV.

However, I bought Rock Band. I had previously bought the version of Guitar Hero 3 that only had the game, as I had the GH2 Guitar. The 360 version has compatible guitars, thanks to MS's anal retentive compatibility control issues :) I didn;t like the Rock Band guitar, so I traded in my GH3 for a new version of GH3 with guitar.

I bought foam drum pads for $20 to dampen the drim sounds. They worked well, but the cheap foam got destroyed in less than a month.

I then bought another set of $20 pads from somewhere else. These were much better, were sturdy foam covered with felt, and have help up for a couple months.

I've bought almost 70 of the available DLC songs.

I bought a drum stool. And a couple new sets of drum sticks.

And I bought a new USB adapter because the one it came with was cheap POS and broke right away. :)

I've spent more on Rock Band than my damn 360 cost :)

Yeah, it's amazing how things snowball. In addition to a replacement for the entertainment center, we'll likely have to get an extra guitar (since the Xbox360 guitars that everyone else has aren't compatible). If we really do a lot of Rock Band then the stereo will need an upgrade. Nevermind all the BluRay we're going to want...

Mmmm... rockband. Good choice on the CRT, I love mine. It's still the best looking TC tech out there. Weight issues aside.
