On Thursday after school, Lo takes a tupperware container of brownies and her satchel to Mr Wayne's building (which she gets into a little more ... legally than some previous visits) and the discovery that he's not actually home at the moment is entirely convenient because, as it turns out, she's not looking for him. He just doesn't strike her as ( Read more... )

Between the rash of bizarre murders in midtown and the daily horrors and annoyances of nightly patrolling, Bruce is doing surprisingly well on the whole 'remembering to sleep and eat' thing. He manages to stay awake through putting in an appearance in the board room, and spends lunch in the R&D basement with Lucius - well, "lunch", but the older man has generally gotten used to dealing with Wayne's schedule, usually with benevolent amusement.

He takes a taxi home - hasn't been to traffic school yet - and gets the "there's company" text as he gets in the elevator. His first thought is maybe Marion dropped by which could be fantastic (hey, she's stopped being pissed at him) or terrible (she's come over to tell him to fuck off in person).

... Well. That's not Marion.

"--Hi."

"Hi, Mr Wayne!"

At this point, Lo is stretched out on her stomach by Alfred's feet, with her sandals hanging off her toes in the air and her elbows propping her up. Her pen appears to be a darker shade of pink, with a fluffy end that lights up. Her stationary all runs in this (tacky) direction, predictably, and all in all the scene is a little surreal in its surroundings.

"Miss Lourdes had got a bit stuck in her Introduction To Philosophy class," Alfred supplies, saintly.

"Hi, Lourdes." Though he tries not to sound confused, he's a bit deer-in-headlights about finding Lo sprawled on his living room floor. He shouldn't be, really, seeing as she's already proven she has no qualms about just showing up, but Surprise Teenagers are always going to perplex him just a bit.

"Oh that's... they teach that in highschool?"

"Gosh, not very well," Lo complains, digging her pen into the pad of paper she's leaning on. (This is one instance in which it's more likely that the problem lies with Lo's ability to focus on her schoolwork and not the ability of educators to teach her.) She seems merrily oblivious to (or just ignoring) Bruce's bewilderment, which ... is par for the course.
