[Daria can't remember the last time she showed up a social gathering she wasn't being bribed in some way to attend. But there were posters for this thing on campus and she figured there might be enough of a trainwreck factor to make putting in an appearance at least a little bit worthwhile. So she finds herself knocking on the door, despite her better judgment.]

[Tim answers the door, mostly feeling relieved that he has a guest that knocks rather than just barging in. Wearing a sport coat and a tux-print T-shirt, he definitely looks overdressed for the party going on behind him -- but not as overdressed as the dismayed-looking blonde guy in the double-breasted suit wandering past behind him.]

Hey, come on in. Glad you could make it.

[Daria, on the other hand, is remarkably underdressed in her same old everyday outfit. Oh well. It's not like she's actually looking to make a good impression here, right? She's a little confused at the greeting, though. Do they already know each other?]

Hey. Thanks for having me. [Her unenthusiastic tone probably says otherwise.]

And if you spoke Polish, you'd know that meant "ugly girl" oftpartitioned September 21 2011, 04:50:53 UTC
[ Poland appears at Tim's elbow, gazing over the newcomer disapprovingly. ]

Tim stop letting brzydota in here!!

Feliks, how much have you been drinking?

[Tim smirks a little at her tone. The longer this party goes on, the worse of an idea it seems to be. He feels pretty much the same way about it, honestly..]

As you can see, it's... very exciting here. Tim Drake, good to meet you. Please ignore my roommate.

Not enough for this chick, obviously.

[ Obviously what? Poland, you're drunk. A hand protectively on Tim's arm, Poland leans over to address Daria. ]

I'm JUST SAYING, make-up was invented a super long time ago. I was there. You like, might wanna get in on that.

[Daria side-eyes Poland. It's not like it's the first time she's been called ugly, or probably the last. But's it's still never nice to hear, especially from strangers you've just met.]

Oh good, I was starting to wonder if New Moore had a fashion club as well. Now I feel right at home.

[She turns her attention back to Tim, relaxing her expression back into its default blankness. At least he doesn't seem to be a huge jerk right offhand.]

Daria Morgendorffer ... um, I go to the college.

[With Poland holding his arms, it's very easy to reverse it into an aikido hold and shove him gently sideways, and Tim does so without looking at him once. Instead, he maintains polite eye contact with Daria, and keeps his voice even and pleasant.]

Then this should be like a sort of premature class reunion. What are you studying?

It's kind of a toss-up right now. I was trying to decide between journalism and creative writing, but underwater basket-weaving seems a lot more appealing these days.

You know, with this place, I wouldn't be surprised if that was really on the curriculum.

[Daria smirks, just the tiniest bit.]

Maybe I can find a way to integrate all three subjects into a degree program.

It'd make for an interesting capstone thesis, at least....

Assuming I don't go back to my original plan, anyway.
