Have I told you yet that I love this story? Because I love everything about it. The fusion is working so perfectly I can't stand it, your writing is pitched so perfectly, and I love the tension.

I LOVE WRITING IT. IT'S MY FAVORITE TOY. *cuddles story*

But actually I'm really glad you're enjoying it, and this comment kind of made me melt a little bit. :) Thank you so much!

There's a tag I've found on tumblr that is particularly apt right now: that was my heart and I need that to live.

And I knew it was coming, you told us it was coming, and yet I wanted to cry when Natasha screamed. Her litany of 'They knew' and its two different contexts are agonizing because it's not his hidden life that she focuses on, but her puppeteers, how this secret happiness is gone forever and they've been tainting it all along. Clint, Clint who is thinking 'How could I do this?' and for all we know walks in that door without a weapon in hand...

Ouch. I'm going to go sit in a corner for now, but in all honesty, I loved this.

I HAVE SEEN THAT TAG. Come to think of it, I've USED that tag. :P

That scene was actually agony to write. The thing is that I used to write angst all the time. Like, 99% of what I wrote was angsty and depressing and just shamelessly tear-jerky. Then I got out of that and wrote sort of realistic original fiction for awhile, where there's angst but it's normal, everyday angst, infidelity and divorce and growing up, and it's sad and it gives you feelings but not the same sort of feelings as the spy agency I work for has known for five years that my husband could be playing me and said nothing. I just. Oof. Natasha.

I haven't decided yet if Clint walks in armed or not. He probably doesn't. He's not that sort of guy.

Thank you so much!

I have no shame in admitting that I stalked out your journal, waiting for this chapter, because your stories give me life. I love the life you give these characters, and their story is just so good and so apt and so them, and really, IT'S SO GOOD.

I swear I was more coherent in my head, writing out this comment, so I apologize if it sounds all weird, but to summarize: your story makes me want to puke out rainbows, I love it so much.

NOOOO. Ugh I love this story so much, I don't want it to end! This is so lovely, I like the idea that their marriage wasn't troubled at all, it makes the fact that they both sort of consider taking the other out more poignant I think. Can't wait for more!

It's not over yet, there's one more chapter! Also, if it makes you feel better, you can think of if ever two were one as a sort-of sequel! :P

It was definitely a good marriage. They're spies, so they've got to have good memories, so they won't forget things like birthdays or anniversaries or picking up milk, and they're both really competent so the finances and schedules will always be covered, and they're stupid in love with each other. What could go wrong?

...well, obviously we know what could go wrong, but it's the principle of the thing.

This story has me by the throat and the heart simultaneously. I love everything about this world you've created, and what I love most is how loving and beautiful their marriage is. That they can just be who they are together, without lying or killing. That's what their day jobs are for. :) they're such a great couple- Clint picking out her shoes was adorable, and their non-talk about kids broke my heart a little. Natasha's reaction to them knowing about Clint all along was so visceral and raw, pitch perfect. I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Oh gosh I love this comment. Thank you so much!

(Honestly, I teared up a little bit when I wrote Natasha's last scene. She's so suspicious about everything in her life because she's been made and unmade so many times, and the only thing she's never questioned was Clint, and now she has to question it. I just...Feelings. Feelings everywhere.)
