I wanted to write about something interesting for you. Interesting eludes me still.

I haven't in fact lived here very long yet, but it's starting to feel like forever.  Which is good.  I am finally starting to thoroughly enjoy my time alone.  It's mostly filled with reading these days, and that will always feel disproportionately constructive to me.  I'm still a little too excited to see people I know, but I can live with that as ( Read more... )

Seriously, I think all that said degree has technically changed in my life is to facilitate the belief that I am completely useless.

my degree only got me into Grad School
if I hadn't done that, I'm pretty sure my degree would have gotten me nowhere

This post was really really good. That sounds stupid because it's just an LJ post, but I can guarantee it was more interesting and well-written then the lame ass book I'm reading for book club. And that author is famous. Famous = making money. YOU are a writer. You should be making money for this. I don't know what to say about your fight against the job market (and the Universe in general), besides "I'm on your side." I sincerely hope things start looking up for you. You deserve it.

Love,
Erin

Ha, that's funny and very kind. The first thing I thought after I read that, was that you probably only think that because I reigned in my desire to drop the F bomb in every entry. However, fuck makes an appearance at the very end. Typical. I feel in my fight against the Universe, at least the job universe, I have to start arming myself with more than a flimsy liberal arts degree and a lame, albeit well-written, resume. So I might be starting a blog? Really just for the sake of having a writing sample in lieu of being able to find anyone that needs inexperienced freelancers. Anyway, you might be the only person I know who would enjoy reading it as I'll actually try to be well-written.
