Wow...congrats on the work kudos! I think walking around with a doorway-filling ego for awhile is justified here.
And I was about to ask "How are things going with the baby?" which I think is really the questions "How is parenthood?" and "What is the baby doing at this point in his development?" But if that's a ridiculous question, feel free to ignore it.
Well, "How are things going with the baby?" is a slightly different question than "How are you feeling about parenthood?" which is really the question in, well, question. You know how much I like semantics. Incidentally, I have noticed that most people who have children tend to ask "How is the child?" and not "How are you now?"
And I'm not saying that's a bad or ridiculous question, I just don't fathom what's being asked. I can't very well give a profound answer at this point, and is it socially acceptable to dislike parenthood? It seems like a person who gives any answer other than "Great!" or the neutral "Oh, fine, thanks" is likely to find oneself in therapy... which would make it a meaningless question, except it's never asked in the casual way of such things. So, perhaps it's a question of me not really understanding the context for the question...?
I think they're sort of asking if the baby is especially difficult, if your spouse has gone crazy (crazy happy/crazy angry/crazy sad) - but I think the question is mostly "is the baby keeping you awake at night?", and ?is your wife making you change a lot of diapers?"
Congratulations on the raise! Ego-inflating performance reviews are the best kind. :) It sounds like the job is working out really well for you.
So as not to repeat questions lots of people are asking you two, here are some others: how is Mori? How are your art projects going? Anything interesting going on with gaming?
