the auto incident

I just bought C's 1997 Camry four days ago and got it titled yesterday, a day later than we agreed on but I blame that on the DMV's short hours and my hectic schedule. I haven't even had a chance to put the new plates on because the screws are rusty and I don't have a screwdriver with enough "bite" to get them loose and I didn't want to run the ( Read more... )

Oh lord! CLOSE call! *Heart hammering for you*

I've had my license suspended several times, never for DUI but for an UNHOLY amount of speeding tickets (27 or 28 in five years, I think) and only once got into an accident while driving under suspension. I got the same weird buzzing feeling in my head like I did the day I got arrested for...well, basically being insane and disregarding a pink slip...but anyway, it was the middle of a howling snowstorm and the police never got there so our insurance worked it out privately and I was off the hook.

So why is the name on your social security card and birth certificate different? Asking as a person about to legally deep six her birth name...

So, I'm thinking...

Move back to Ohio where you can drive legally?

I got a ticket once for failing to reduce speed when entering an intersection. I think they just wanted to see if I had dope on me 'cause I've read and re-read the Rules of the Road book and nowhere in there does it say that you have to reduce your speed when you're entering an intersection, so I went to court and they dismissed it.

As far as the name, in short, I'm a bastard. My birth surname was my father's but I was raised and schooled using my mother's maiden name. At some point they had to converge, and the Social Security Administration were the first to bite, and they wanted to hyphenate it so I said great and took my fresh card to the Illinois DMV and they bit too and it's been officially unofficial for twelve years now. The DMV in Wisconsin didn't go for it but I really don't care, as long as I have some ID that matches my checks, credit cards, etc. I could care less.

I've thought about moving back to Ohio but I have too much going for me here.. :)

Yeah, everything except, you know, a driver's license. You might want to straighten that shit out. It tend to, like, catch up with you.

I can understand the urge to stay out of Ohio. Well, SOUTHERN Ohio anyway. NRG. *headdesk*
