So I've decided it's finally time to replace my old extra-firm double bed sized futon that I've been sleeping on for the last 10 years, a.k.a "the rock". The new one will be a queen size, and the futon will be converted into a 2nd couch ( Read more... )

Have had a Simmons Beautyrest for years, and am very much in favour. Back-aches which arise when away from home are invariably cured by being back on my own mattress. Worth spending the money for the time you are going to spend sleeping on it.

I had a Simmons Beautyrest for about 10 years...possibly a little longer and it was FANTASTIC. The pocket coils were great because I'm a light sleeper and any vibrations and bumps didn't disturb my sleep.

I have a pillow-top on my current bed and I actually prefer harder mattresses because of my back problems. The pillow-top is great for cushioning your body and providing support for the arches in your body while a harder mattress supports you so you don't sink in too much.

I also like Sleep Country, but that's more of a bias due to experience...I guess all of this is.

Seriously though, a Beautyrest on sale? That has my vote...as does a pillow top. It's true it's a little warmer, but the amount of support you get from that combination is great.

i'm almost jealous, i've never been poo-pood! one thing to check up on, if the mattress sags/gets a softer indented spot where you normally sleep, is it returnable? is there a guarantee against that? will it happen with any old one?

Do you have AC? Keep in mind that some pillow top materials are inherently warmer than others.

We sleep on a queen-sized slice of extra-firm foam. Much cheaper than a mattress, and much firmer too. Wouldn't go back to conventional beds for the world.
