Anthrocon Report

Jul 06, 2013 21:22

I decided to go to Anthrocon this year to give myself something fun to do over the 4th of July weekend, and to meet some new friends I've made on Twitter. Since I decided to go at the last minute, the only rooms that were available were in the Wyndham, but I thought it would be ok once I heard about the shuttle that goes to and from the convention ( Read more... )

My God! You LIVE! I was afraid you'd disappeared forever!

Glad you and Thpppt! are having fun!

Haha. The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. But I'm glad somebody missed me. ;-)
I've just been busy. I'll try to give updates more often though.
Although, in a way, my skunk fursona is dead. If I can figure out a way, I'd like to put Pewter to pasture, while Thppbt lives on.

As a matter of possible mutual interest, my experience is that it would be a good idea to have a fursona name that people can actually pronounce and spell after hearing it only once. Even mine is surprisingly difficult, and people struggle with it all the time. It sucks having to say it over and over again. I can just imagine you going "Thppbt Thppbt Thppbt Thppbt" and see people still not getting it.

It doesn't bother me. People have fun trying pronounce my name. It makes people giggle and smile. I guess people may have trouble finding me on FA or Twitter, but it's a happy tradeoff.

Fursuiting at the con is difficult if you're not staying at the Westin or the Courtyard. I've seen some folks walk from the Omni in full fursuit, although I'm not sure I'd try it myself.

Maybe they should make the Westin a fursuit-only hotel. ;-) Even then they would have to put 2 or 3 suiters in every room. But I don't think I'd ever stay at the Westin again. Going up in the elevators, fursuiters have an express line, but going down takes forever.
