In discussing during the Black Market rewatch afterparty which episodes of Season 4 I personally would be willing to rewatch at this point (almost a year later and the rage is still fierce with this one, in case you didn't know, and grudges are still being held!), I remembered this tidbit I'd read thanks to a friend that made "Sometimes a Great ( Read more... )

I would've loved to see that. I was waiting right till the end to see Kara comfort Lee in that way. I got that from him in "Six of One", but Kara never got the chance to show Lee that sort of support.

Plus, I'm a sucker for vulnerable guys being comforted by their woman. ;)

I hadn't read that before, but it's pretty much what I assumed happened (except without the cheese). I always liked that scene because I saw so much maturity in it. Because A) Kara wanted to talk about her feelings, and B) she put Lee ahead of herself when she realized he needed someone. I'm a little harsh on Lee, always wanting him to support my girl, but it's nice to see her supporting him too.

I remember how excited we all were about this scene (the aired one, I mean, but this one too) for exactly that reason--their love for each other was coming in through loud and clear as it so often had before, but with that added level of maturity we'd started to see consistently from Maelstrom's under the wing scene on.

At least now I understand what Katee was talking about when she was saying it seemed like Lee was so torn up over Dee's death... that makes sense now...

YES! Exactly. I wondered when I read that quote by her what else must have been in this scene that we didn't see.

And clearly they DID write it that Lee was gutted by her death. And not that he shouldn't greive for Dee but... I can almost understand Katee interpreting it as Kara being shocked by this and wondering what it means wrt how he felt about Dee and how he feels about her.

I get why Katee would feel that way but....of COURSE he would be this distraught. She was his wife.

But we saw him when Kara died. He screamed and cried and that was just in the few moments right after her ship exploded. His entire life was turned upside down.

Yup. I'm just saying I get why Katee would take that as some sort of sign that the writers were making Lee/Dee into...more than they were? IDK.

Maybe that's why TSAR was such a disappointment to me. I wanted more screaming and crying for a change.

ETA: I mean I think a lot of people say oh Kara never chose him, never chose him....but...Lee didn't really choose her either at the times he could have. Maybe UB, her marrying Sam was a bigger gesture, but they both failed to choose each other too many times.

I'm still angry we didn't get to see this. However overly dramatic it seems on paper I think that Katee and Jamie would have knocked it out of the park.

I think Kara is the only one Lee would have broke down like that in front of. She never would have thought less of him or thought he couldn't do his duty because of it. She would have been the rock he's always been for her. Regardless of a romantic relationship, it was an excellent way to show how they both had something constant in their lives especially when they were both going through something terrible. But anyway....I can't believe I'm still so mad.

If you listen to Ron's podcast for the epi he says they shot a more emotional ending to the scene (which leads me to believe it exists somewhere) but he thought it was too much and that the audience would be able to "get it" without that kind of display or something like that. Way to go RDM. *rages*

Ditto. I imagine there were a LOT of scenes like this that KS and JB turned into the moments we love and still squee about.

WORD. The maturity alone is so huge for them! Left to run its course, this would have eventually have run into their romantic relationship to. Had it been allowed to continue to develop.

Yeah, I remember that. Stupid RDM.

I really would have liked to have seen Kara comforting him as I think that's right in line with all the growth/acceptance that was their arc in 4.0/4.5.

The thing about that is it makes me sad they couldn't dream of writing them that way before/without killing Kara. :(

As to the rest of the scene, well... I admit to being glad we were saved from Lee's "uncontrollable sobbing" because Jamie's crying fits and/or drunken scenes are a bit...much.

And gods maybe they cut it for this line alone. Which is unbelievably bad. LOL!

She tried to run from the despair by smiling and telling us not to lose hope, but it caught up with her.

Yes, comforting Kara! Such a lovely idea. And, you know, I tend to believe Jamie would've toned down the crying as written here. He and Katee did some of their best work together. I don't think it would have come out so dramatic or would have made people think Lee was suddenly mourning Dee as this great love or something. Can't see them playing it that way at all.

The thing about that is it makes me sad they couldn't dream of writing them that way before/without killing Kara. :(

Oh, you know I'm with you like whoa. Of course, at this point I still refused to believe she wasn't back for good so it was all gonna work out, despite having just seen the body-burning scene. DeNile, it ain't just a river in Egypt.

Ha ha, yeah--the speech is really bad! I can't really picture Lee saying that. I like what QoT said about the jacks (I'd forgotten all about that since I haven't rewatched) and then how it could have ended with just a hug. That would have translated everything in this original scene quite well!

You weren't the only one in denial, bb. It's only really been in the last few months that I accepted the meaning of the body burning as Kara having really died. I hate it and RDM with a continuing rage. Also agreed that a hug would have been nice even if the cheese got cut from the K comforting L scene...
