New Fic: Daniel's Desk (gen, PG)

Finally wrote something. Though in this case 'wrote' is used a bit figuratively. Anyone who's read Scraps and Scribbles by rigel_7 knows where I stole this idea from (and if you haven't read it and like Sam and Daniel friendship fics, get thee over there immediately).

This is awesome! I'm trying to pick a favorite and I can't. The admission form from Legacy is great (did you make the whole thing up yourself or did you find the form somewhere?) and really drives home how bad the psychiatry is in that ep. (Er, but this isn't the place for that rant. *g*)

Daniel’s touched by the sentiment and doesn’t have the heart to tell him that flowers are what you use to apologize to your wife, not to apologize for killing someone else’s.

Oh, ouch. I mean, in a good way but man that line drives home how much that episode hurt. *sniff*

I love the notes all over Rothman's paper. The radiation symbol cup is great, especially your descriptions of Sam and Jack's reactions to it. And the brief hints of Sarah and Daniel's relationship. And the impound lot showing how life goes on even when you're light years away fighting in a resistance cell. And hee at the Mitchell and Daniel competition.

I case you can't tell, I really loved this. ;)

I'm very glad you liked it.

The admission form I found online from the Colorado Division of Mental Health. The military probably has their own forms, which would have been more appropriate since I decided Daniel would have been taken to Evans Army Hospital, but they aren't online, so I figured this would have to do. And, yeah. It was only in rewatching the episode that I realized how...lacking the psychiatry is. And that's if you don't include the possibility of actual alien possession. Hence the Top Secret handwave in the form.

You should feel free to rant whenever you like, by the way. It's generally through other people's rants that I learn stuff. Also, it makes me feel less guilty when I go off on one of my own. ;)

I so meant for this to be mostly humourous, but all this angst kept pouring out...

Jack's Ancient is just transliterated Latin. I'd love if it said something rude and appropriate, but I don't know enough Latin to pull it off. Originally, it read "If you can read this you're overeducated", but I've since decided Jack would want to be a little more juvenile after such a long and bizarre ordeal. I'll let you transcribe and Google if you wish. It'll give you a better understanding of Daniel's pain. ;)

Here via Fig's rec. That's an amazing story, start to finish. I laughed at Teal'c messing with Jack's head, but the flowers from Teal'c...oh, that hurts. Then there's "You. Me. Together. Naked. Sound good?" Now I'm wondering if Teal'c did it just to mess with him.

I like the mug and the book from Sam too!

I'm glad you enjoyed the story. You're not alone in wondering if it was Teal'c who left the note, though I'll never tell...possibly because I can't decide for myself.

Getting it to be concise was pretty hard, I have to admit. You wouldn't believe the number of revisions each section underwent.
