In honour of Gen Fic Day, and because I suffer from a surprising amount of masochism, I signed up for sg-fignewton's Janet Alphabet Soup. Yay for 26 new fics about Janet! Go check them out!

Daniel gets zero sympathy from me, because honestly, if I was sixteen and in a car with him, yeah...

I love the general atmosphere that it does take a community to raise a kid (and apparently a dog?) and Jack willing to take the dog whenever its convenient is perfectly him!

Loved it! Thanks for sharing!

Aw, Daniel still has my sympathy. From his perspective it's awkward and squicky and more than a little disturbing to be hit on by a 15-16 year old. Rose, however, also has my sympathy, because if I were her...yeah. Actually, I'd probably still hit on him if I were in a car with him now, and I'm *cough* years older and married. Though I'd like to think I'd be better at it than Rose was. Probably not any more successful, but better.

Right of Passage hints at how involved Sam continues to be in Cassie's life, and I have a hard time believing the rest of the team wouldn't be almost as involved. I also don't believe Jack bought the kid a dog for purely unselfish reasons. ;)

Glad you enjoyed it. :)

Very nice! Cassie is a typical teenager and Janet is a typical working mom. And both of them are anything but typical. Lovely sense of family.

Teal'c's line "This, too, shall pass" made me laugh out loud.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.

:) I must admit I had a very good time imagining Teal'c's facial expression as he said "I remain hopeful the assessment is accurate."

I've been waiting for the chance to sit down and read this for ages!

like Janet's some sort of chronic and incurable disease

Oh, this made me laugh, because it's Janet's POV, so what other metaphor would she use?

Teal'c and Janet discussing parenting! And Teal'c's delightful zinger: "The Jaffa are a proud, independent people. Many are also wise. Difficulties arise when the former attributes are present before the latter." Perfect. :)

Daniel and the teenager hitting on him - bwah!

"I wouldn't miss it for the world." Well, that's not quite true. She might have to miss it for the world, or at least to save some of the people who save the world. But between Cassie's resilience and Janet's surprising amount of back-up, they'll muddle their way through.

Awwww. :)

In some ways, Janet has it easier than those parents of non-alien children who don't know why their mother/father breaks commitments and is late for appointments and... sometimes never comes home.

This was fabulous, and well worth the wait. And going on my rec list. :)

Sweet. I was trying to balance the fact that Cassie knows how important Janet's job is with her natural teenage tendency to be self-absorbed. The selfishness wins in the beginning, but Sam being injured would reinforce exactly why Janet can't always be around for normal mom things. At least as I see it.

And, yeah. I can't imagine what sort of story the SGC had to spin for Janet's off-base colleagues, relatives, and friends on how the CMO of a base in Colorado got killed in the line of duty, but at least Cassie could be told of her mother's heroism.

Teal'c and Janet discussing parenting! And Teal'c's delightful zinger [snip] Perfect. :)

Thanks. It took me forever to satisfactorily (to me) balance Teal'c being a frustrated father and yet still being, well, Teal'c. I'm pleased it worked for you.
