Teaching in Space

Teaching middle school approximates to teaching in some remote corner of the galaxy.  I work on a grimy space station, populated with grubby, opinionated, noxious, lonely denizens.  Roving bands of children jostle for supremacy.  Teachers either patrol security or hold out bright jewels of knowledge, hoping to entice their errant charges ( Read more... )

Just try to remember you don't do it to impress them. Whether they're impressed or not is irrelevant. You do it for the kids, and the ones who do flourish, and for yourself. And for the future. Kids are the future. You do want us to have Starfleet some day and not a real grimy station that's two thirds "down below" yes? Crafting the future, one kid at a time. :-)
