-STICKY POST- I decided I wasn't going to aim for "100 movies" or "100 books" in 2008, but rather will simply keep a catalog of what I watch and read for the first time this year.
I just finished watching the BBC adaptation of S&S! While I still love the movie, I think Davies' adaptation got more of the sense and mood across. And possibly characters. I think it probably followed the plot more closely as well. (Although like you I haven't read the book so my judgements might be a bit suspect in that respect.) Thompson's Elinor had a lot of Emma Thompson in her, I think.
Did you find Lucy Steele a wee bit over the top, though? I preferred Imogen Stubbs' subtler interpretation of the role.
And I still can't fancy Colonel Brandon in either adaptation; though I did believe Marianne's affection for him. How did you find them? I thought their romantic storyline was nicely developed.
So now YOU need to watch the Thompson adaptation. :)
