I hate the NewU. I like the people and everything, but no one understands what it's like to walk in and to have someone asking you to help them with something or do something literally every 5 minutes. It wears on you a lot after awhile, especially when you know walking in things are going to be bad. It doesn't help when Carol takes you aside and

Brian, this is the second semester in a row that I've applied to work on my school newspaper, and they've refused me again, so I've consoled myself with the fact that the Daily Cal really is an insipid newspaper now (true objective fact, not just being bitter).

On how to make your job a little better: Try typing up a FAQs list. That way, you can stop communicating with them and just start pointing to a piece of paper that they can address their concerns to. It'll make you feel like you have control of your environment because you get to filter out some of the nuisance.

It's okay, Brian. People really are terrible.
