Doctor Who Recs the Third
This set is a little bit different. I've had these links collected for a while, and keeping thinking that if I post it, I'll find something I want to add to it immediately. And I probably will. Oh well. Enjoy these, they're all fantastic.
Doctor/Rose goodness:
The Unbearable Lightness of Screwing by Amberite, NC-17, Ten/Rose. Remind me to write a rec for this one when my brain comes back online. I may never have read anything this hot before. I think I need a little...um...break.
Sins of the Flesh by rosa-acicularis, PG-13, Ten/Rose. This is the perfect combination of humor and sex. It's the Doctor all hot and bothered and deciding to do something about it. In a perfectly Doctor-ish way. Not exactly porn, but it might as well be. Super sweet, super in character.
Not Ready for Goodbye by dark_aegis, R, Ten/Rose. Rose isn't sure she can stay with the Doctor. He's not ready to let her go. Hurt/comfort, psychic sex, smut. Really lovely.
OT3 goodness:
On The Inside by sanguineheroine, NC-17, Nine/Rose/Jack. Porny deliciousness from Rose's POV. A skillfully written fic (and I absolutely swear I started my next OT3 fic before reading this.) Tequila, salt, console!sex, what more do you need?
Tin Men by nessaja82, G, Doctor/Jack/Rose. A non-linear story of love shared between three, with a good deal of lonliness and angst thrown in. But what sets this apart is the hope that rides behind the heartbreak.
Gen:
Practically Perfect in Every Way by emmaspcreview. Ten, Rose, G. This is simply delightful. The Doctor empties his dimensionally transcendental pockets, and Rose snarks on the contents. Pop culture references abound.
The Slow Path by seti-drd, G, Jack, Doctors. This is a lovely set of 11 drabbles in which Jack, during his time on Earth, encounters all the incarnations of the Doctor. I like this idea for Jack.
Season 3 related stories:
If Wishes Were Fishes by kb91, PG, Implied Ten/Rose, Ten, Martha. Spoilers for early S3. This is a "Martha finds Rose's room" fic, and utterly wonderful. Really good characterization of Ten, including fantastic dialog. Plus, I like this Martha. This fic makes me feel better.
A Hand to Hold by humansrsuperior, Ten/Rose, itty bitty bit Ten/Martha, PG. The Doctor remembers all the hand-holding moments with Rose. Really a beautiful retrospective and reconciliation with the future.
Faraway by goldy_dollar, PG, Ten/Rose. Sweet and sad and perfect. She captures Ten in S2 and S3 perfectly.
Rose/Other Doctor or Multi-Era fics:
Fallen Angel by ponygirl72, Eight/Rose, PG. Post-Doomsday, Rose finds the Eighth Doctor directly after the Time War. A nice story, although I find the ending slightly unrealistic.
Fullness of Time by debetesse, Twelve/Rose, PG. All I'll give you is the opening quote; if that doesn't make you want to read it, I don't know what will. "In a small town in Norway, there were stories told about a man. This man would appear from time to time, for half a century, always alone, and walk the beach. In all weathers and all seasons he would re-appear. Some said he was Odin, come to seek the wolf, for his face was said to change. Others said he was a spy, and his box was for surveillance. And still others said he was from beyond the stars: though they couldn’t see the ships in Norway, A positive is the most common blood type. "
One Perfect Day by AvalonNocturne, Doctor/Rose, Eight and Ten. A remarkable story in which Rose is sent back in time, meets Eight, visits Gallifrey, and brings her Doctor a gift. Beautiful.
Just One Day by Asano, Doctor/Rose, with Eight, Nine, and Ten, NC-17 for the last chapter. This is a fic I literally stumbled across on Teaspoon while looking for something else. I started reading it and knew very quickly I'd be reccing it. It's so fantastically complex and done so well. I found myself grinning from ear to ear and it's an AU with marriage and timebabies and typos and every reason for me not to like it, and I love it. So incrediably perfect and sweet and OMG the shippy...
My next set of recs will be a crossover set, multi-fandom.
