I *cannot* suppress the song in my head unless there is some sequence I am moving through. I think the Tai Chi equivalent is called 'crickets', at least in my class. I can't quiet them down often, but when I do it is by being very attentive to the form. The sensations of the body as it moves and the weight shifts give something to fill that mental space. If I were just sitting, I'd never be able to do it.
