Canary Photo Update
Seeing as my last batch of orni-photos was over a month ago, here are some more pictures of the fourth canary in our flock. My older brother named this one Julian, after my grandfather's middle name. Appropriately, Julian has started singing, so we know he's male (which leads me to believe that Fubsy is female, based on Fubsy's lack of singing). ( Read more... ) -
Makeover, makeover...
I've updated the layout of my livejournal. I hadn't really changed it since I first joined in twenty aught four, and decided it was time for a makeover. Look for another one in five years, maybe. -
Please don't get too excited
Well, it's twenty aught nine and life goes on. The new baby bird is no longer a baby (feeds hisself and everything!), and I have a new toothbrush. Apparently this song, from Sesame Street, was the inspiration for Andrew Bird's songs "I" and "Imitosis." Originally, the various permutations of the line "we're basically alone" in Bird's songs was "we all live in a capital I" but Sesame Street decided against allowing the use of the lyrics.

I'm not that into steampunk, but I do enjoy a good zeppelin. Apparently Santa Claus of future-past does as well. -

Apparently the giant koalas of Australia were not the ancestors of modern koalas.
So instead of asking why the megafauna evolved into dwarves, the question has become why did the smaller species outlast the big one.
